I am trying to 'disable' the 'exploded portrait' orientation, which seems to be a recent feature built into the Android ROMs:

Because I am working for Retail clients with vertically mounted screens, the following is what I am after:

Apparently the 2nd image is the default behaviour on many of the older devices such as the Galaxy Nexus, so my assumption is the 1st image ('exploded portrait') is a built in feature.

Could anyone give me any high-level guidance on this matter? I would appreciate any kind of feedback.
