I'm going on a cruise to the Caribbean, and I'd like to be able to use my phone. I don't want to spring for the international service on the plan, since it'll just be used for a week or so.

Is there a way i can at least use messaging? Maybe calling?

I know I can do some things over wi-fi, but what are my limits? Is there a way around them?

You could get on wifi and use google talk. I'm not sure if you can make phone calls with google voice over wifi though. Try skype maybe?
