In meetings all day, turned on phone and received text from Verizon letting me know they are updating my phone with 2.2 (already updated by Verizon), Flash (already downloaded) and improved video. Great, but I'm rooted and not sure what, if anything I should do. Download is near complete, so too late to flash back to stock. Haven't researched update issues with root, basically thought updates for the Droid original were done.

I have heard of others on the forum getting this text message today, I would be interested to know what this update brings, especially since you say you were already updated unless this is the FRG22D and you just haven't received it yet, also I wonder how you are rooted and if this update will even install properly or mess up your root

Post Back and let us know your experience with this

Update did its thing, message on screen stated "phone already up to date" and update process started again. Did not lose root, yet. I will see if update process is in a loop. If so, should I try to restore to factory, allow update and then re-root? PIA!

I was not updated to FRG22D before I rooted. I rooted the "long way" and have Chevy Simply Stunning 4.7 ROM. Upate also states "multiple security improvements for your Droid by Motorola".

If you are using SPRecovery, it shouldn't install. It is most likely the boot loader "upgrade" that rewrites your recovery on reboot.

update process stuck in loop. Message states "system up to date" and then download starts over. Guess tis could go on forever and frankly, I wouldn't care but phone is lagging due to 77.0 mb download always "on".

Going back to stock after downloading file, expect update to complete and then re-root. Any other suggestions would be great, such as is there a way to shut down update from Verizon?

Dont have to go back to stock. First link in my sig gives you exact directions how to get rid of this. Been running it now for a week and no updates. Hopefully you didnt go back to stock yet.

NO I've been patient and have not returned to stock and thanks the link. Although, for some reason the link is not cooperating, the page refuses to load?

I got the text yesterday as well, but was already on FRG22.

Checked in my system updates and showed no available update.

    Rogue texts from Verizon? LOL
