Is there an application launcher that can sit at the bottom of the screen, but offer smooth zooming like AquaDock, Kiba Dock, Xwindows dock, Avant Window Navigator, etc? I search but did not find anything..

Would be pretty sweet.. but does android even support desktop composition?

Interesting. Not what I was looking for but it is kinda cool. I am going to run it for a few days. Animation is a bit choppier than I would like though so I will have to see if its wow factor is worth it, even with 1100MHz overclock on SG 6.0.1

Thanks for the tip :)

If you've played with WebOS, it would be cool to have a launcher that sort of does what it does. It's hard to describe, but you can sort of drag the launcher tray up and it magnifies what your thumb is on, the rest of the tray is sort of warped and "swoopy" looking.

edit: Here's a picture: http://blog.smartphonefanatics.com/2009/01/webos-is-new-palm-os.html

TAT Home

TAT Home launcher (in final development stages) will provide a very nice (WebOS-ish) interface.

Check it out: TAT Home

YouTube video of TAT Home in action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOGmnnGpoqg]YouTube - TAT Home

"TAT Home is a gesture-powered 3D Home screen for Android that marries advanced UI technology with astonishing design. With simple gestures the user can perform everyday tasks - such as, Contacts, Messaging, Music and Weather without leaving the Home screen. In addition to standard Android Widgets, TAT Home supports unique widgets with 3D-graphics and innovative interaction methods."

I can't wait for it to be available on the Droid!!

Cool video but i'm pretty sure anyone who heard me listening to this at work just now thinks I'm watching porn.

from TatHomes' website:

Will TAT Home be available on Android Market?
The target customers for TAT Home are phone vendors and operators that want a custom user interface on Android phones. At the moment we have no plans to release TAT Home to consumers via an open marketplace.

That seems a bit too ambitious.. I think they should put it on the market and if it is as good as they say the the vendors will be begging for it..

OpenHome has a slide-out dock that comes from the side and is available on all home screens. It doesn't sit on the bottom or side visible like the default OS X dock but it opens and hides as you need it. it works pretty well. Helix has a spot for 4 things I think but App Dock on Open home holds more. Also, Panda Home has Docks that come out of both sides that hold lots of apps too.

Just played with Sweeter home and there are a couple of OS X themes that have docks on them that work pretty well. Sweeter home isn't your typical home replacement though. It's still a definite beta and it needs some more polishing. I just started playing with it and it's an extremely customizable home replacement but it's not for the beginner.

Regarding TAT home, I think it's a bit unfair of them to offer an open Beta, then not allow most of the people who signed up to even try it out. And then, to announce that it won't even be available for end-users........

Of course, it's gonna be the same thing with Swype!; the beta is/was open; yet it's not going to be end-user available. At least THEY let folks give it a try, though. Not just a select few.
