Original Droid freezing

I have an original Motorola Droid and I've been having a problem with it freezing whenever it's been sitting for a while and occasionally when moving from an application back to the home screen. The screen will just freeze for a long period of time (up to a full minute or more) and I will only see my wallpaper visible with no icons.

I suspect this is due to an app I have loaded but does anyone have any idea if there's a way to determine what app may be causing the problem? Or does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be causing the problem?

Thanks for the help.

That sounds like redraw issues. I had the same problem until I rooted and overclocked my phone and set my launcher priority higher. Remember, the D1 only has 256 MB ram.

What launcher are you using? What are your launcher settings?
Disable animations get rid of unneccesary apps, etc etc... are you rooted?

Sorry, not sure what you mean by "rooted". I am using version 2.2.2 of the launcher.
