    Hello Everyone -

In the next month or so when I have some spare time I am going to dive into some android development. I have a few apps I'd really like to create and would like to see how far I can get.

For now though, my current question is how do I open or unpack android package files, .apks?

Reason being is I installed the HTC keyboard hack and absolutely love that keyboard. However, I hate the fact the graphics look like crap in portrait mode. I would like to open up these .apks and recreate some of these graphics to be high res for the droid screen. I would also like to see if I can modify the keyboard so the suggestions don't go over the box you're typing in.

    Thanks for any help!

    Google says...

"apks are just zip files. Set them to open with your archive manager or change the extension to .zip."

If this is incorrect, Google says a few other things on the matter as well.

Ahh. I tried UnRarX on my MacBook Pro and it didn't work.

However, people using Macs, simply compress the .apk package through right click so a .zip is created then just double click the .zip and it unpackages.

    Thanks!
