Today i decided it was time to root my droid and put a rom on it.

I didnt do too much research on any roms, so i just got a random one off the rom manager i downloaded, it was onix. Gotta say its pretty awesome with the blacks and blues, but i wanna see other themes and get a new boot screen.

But when i try to use the customizer it wond download, and going to the onix site i get a 404 error when i go to download the themes.

Whats up with that? Is it worth it to keep onix?

Not too sure, it increases battery life for sure, it has a ton of options i can change from font size to how windows animations act. It supposidly increases sound quality and photo quality.

When you say you want a new boot screen do you mean a home screen launcher

didn't think the onix rom was still around. i had that a while back on my droid. i'm on bugless now, but it's a pretty bare rom. not too sure if you'd like it.

Onix is a really old rom. Go here Custom Roms - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum and take a look around. If u want a lot of features Cyanogenmod 6.1.2 and ultimatedroid 2.5.0 are good. Gingerbread update is coming out and its not for the droid 1 but devs r trying to make it work and I think there getting pretty far but keep in mind that u may have problems. Changing boot animation is easy if u have root explore. I think the boot animation is in folder data/local. Find a bootanimation u want and place file in there and reboot. If there's already a bootanimation file in there move it somewhere else where u know where its at just in case u want it back.

+10^500, its such a great gingerbread rom, yeah, android 2.3! fast, customizable, (even a built in bootanimation changer :D) and SUPER GREAT battery life! Tryyyyy it!!!!!!!!! I bet the built in bootanimation changer thingy will be the feature that makes you wanna install it, right? you should reply back in the end and say what rom you got!
