Is it ok to delete the bloatware or is it recommended to rename the extension ?

Is it important to rename the extension in case a future upgrade needs to see those programs to properly upgrade?

do not touch bloatware, nothing with .blur in it, click on the link, the ones for droid x seem to be same ones safely removed, or renamed. dont delete anything just rename it from .apk to .bak

* Blockbuster.apk -renamed
* Mynet.apk (3G Mobile Hotspot) -renamed
* MotoGAL.apk (Corporate Directory) -didnt see it

X users that have done this have hosed their device......

not to contradict, but i did this to my DX and it didnt cause any problems for mine, but some users did have problems. I just ended up putting it all back to get 2.2 and used titanium backup to freeze them

Just wanted to report that my device seems fine after doing so. I followed the X guide.

I used Titanium Backup and removed the following apps and so far its been running perfectly stable.

kindle
amazon
city id
back up assistant
blockbuster
work contacts
social networking
help center
social status
emergency alert
dlna
3g mobile hotspot
home screen tips
skype
swype
my verizon

I did make a back up prior to removing all the apps, and will bring it all back if anything starts acting strange. but so far its been a champ. I removed the stuff like work contacts due to exchange never being activated, and the social networking stuff i dont use. i only use facebook and the app still functions fine. i might venture in to removing more, but iwill see how this goes for a little while longer to see how stable it stays.
