Why are they so different, im used to using Ulimate Droid and his roms were very stock looking but had custom features. Why cant the Droid X have the same deep customization like the OG Droid? I understand the locked bootlaoder creates difficulty but once in the rom why isnt there more customization availible?

The bootloader is encrypted, which means there can be no custom kernels loaded...which actually limits what the Devs can build since they are locked into using Motos Stock Kernel and its limitations.

As far as it goes, this IMO, isnt really that big of a deal, but to others its the end of the world... I dont need my phone to be any faster, so no new kernel to get a better overclock...I can get enough customization from using the ROMS that we do have, so I dont need a custom kernel...etc etc...:)
