Is there a one click method to Root the OG Droid. Trying to do this for my father in law. Also does wireless tether work on OG Droid Rooted? He is a trucker and I would like to set him up so when he is on the road he can tether his new Ipad2 to is Droid. A point in the right direction would be appreciated. Or if I can use wireless tether via blue tooth without rooting that would be perfect.

There are 2 ways to root a 2.2.2 updated Droid.

    Superoneclick at xda-developers.com

Or, the first link in my signature Root D1 Regardless

Neither of them are one-click. Google has closed all the one-click vulnerabilities.

Ok a simple no would have been sufficient. I had previous reply that say they have used z4root. Didn't know if you just preferred the 2 links you had sent.

No. Z4Root will not work on 2.2.2.

The 2 methods I listed are the only ways to do it now.

The previous poster may have rooted with Z4Root when it was OS 2.1 or lower.

Sorry if I seemed harsh, realized I didn't put the "only 2 ways" in there!

You need 1.6 or 1.7. The newer versions use a different exploit that the D1 OS (2.2.2) blocked.

Does it matter that I am using Windows 7? I also have tried to find the drivers for MOTO Droid I don't think they are on Motorola's web site anymore. Or maybe I am just that much of a noob I am not looking in the right spot.

Yes certain anti virus programs will tell you it is a virus or exploit.

Ok i cant figure it out. I have rooted and un-rooted my thunderbolt a couple of times. I figured this would be easier. I dl 1.7 and it says it is for Galaxy S. I take it that is not what I am looking for? When I double click on the root file it doesnt bring up th windows based option I have seen on youtube. It just brings up a Dos based window.

Doubtful. I'm not 100% on this because I no longer have my Eris but I'm about 80% sure that you need a sdcard for any rooting method on the Eris.
