Pre04 is now live on my site! Quite a few refreshing changes, and more still to come. I think this next round will get some graphical UI improvements, as I basically have ZERO BUGS at the moment. Good place to take a break, and concentrate on the interface design a little more.

Clean flashed 04 and camera fc is indeed gone. However I still had to flash chevys med. voltage kernel before ROM would boot. Also I still have no boot animation and keyboard is still missing numbers from top row. Md5 for download was correct. Other than that everything seems solid. Keep up the great work!

I will be including the MV or SV kernel version in the next release for compatibility. Sacrifice in battery, but it's not major.

I'm not sure what's up with the keyboard. I haven't changed anything there that would affect the numbers. Did it work in pre01?

Boot animation is being worked on right now. For now, just delete the zip, so at least you have SOMETHING you can see that will tell you the system is actually booting.

I'm 99 percent sure keyboard was also affected in pre01. I just can't comfortably say yes without actually flashing it. Not a big deal as I don't use the stock keyboard, but I imagine it would be quite annoying if I did. Again, very solid ROM. Great to see development is still going on after so many years.

Well, this next release will have quite a few welcome changes. So far, I've cleaned up the WIFI icons to be smoother, reduced some overhead by removing some leeching code, added support for custom net cache size, restyled the notification power widget so its easier to see, and last but not least........changed to ChevyNo1s MEDIUM VOLTAGE kernel, for those of you that cant boot with LOW voltage.

There will be more on the way. Of course, I created a few bugs by a couple of those changes I made so far, so I have to work those out as well. Maybe this weekend I will have another update!

Hmmm... custom cache size sounds interesting. I also like the kernel section you started on your site. Looking forward to future additions. Keep up the good work, it's appreciated.

Thanks. Im still uploading the kernels. Once I have them sorted out, and a local rework of the page, I will upload everything publicly.

Thanks to a previous post, I tried out a ChevyNo.1 MEDIUM voltage kernel and finally, I was able to get a ROM, other than v11, on my Droid1. I successfully flashed the Droid1 v13 pre04 ROM.

    ChevyNo.1's kernels: http://chevyno1.richstevenson.com/kernels-053111/

Question: If I don't want to wipe everything, so that I can keep my apps and games, without having to reinstall them, can I just do a dirty flash and still have a stable update of this Steel Droid ROM? If so, what should I minimally wipe, just dalvik-cache?

I personally never do a dirty flash, except if it involves my girlfriend. Lol. But you SHOULD be able to flash updates, and only wipe cache and dalvik-cache.

Ive started uploading kernels to my website. Right now only the 800MHz section of ChevyNo1 kernels is up. More will come as I get time.

Also, I spent a few minutes getting some Quadrant scores for my current build of the D1. Im currently getting an average of 1258. Not sure where that sits in comparison to other ROMs, but its certainly fast and smooth. Im going to see if I cant get that up a little more. My current phone will only support up to 1.2GHz under stress, but will run with 1.25GHz if the system is used lightly. Quadrant forced a soft reboot of the system EVERY time when using the 1.25GHz kernel (even on medium voltage), so the score COULD have been higher, but my hardware wont do it. 1.2GHz is PLENTY fast for anyone given the system was only designed to run at HALF that.

I just installed 12 pre 30 on my Droid. Thanks for a great ROM! Seems to run faster and lag less than the CM7 I had installed. One thing I would like to see is a 'sleep mode' on the power menu options, don't know if that is possible.

I have one question. If it is working fine as is, would there any reason for me to try one of the other kernels?
