My gf's phone has been a bit wierd lately (she spilled soda all over it I cleaned it as best as I could but you'd still expect some issues lol) she used to complain how mine was faster and such but the issue she has now is when she goes to change a ringtone or listen to a voicemail all the voices and sounds are sped up like the chipmonks the only time it is consostanly normal is during a voice call trying to play with it I noticed that her phone was working almost too fast she has gpa12 and a raidzero 1ghz kernal and would blaze in and out of screens even when I clocked it down to 400 it still ran just as fast most would say that's a good thing but its just not normal when same kernal and rom setup was a bit sluggish and magically turned into a Ferrari I switched to Pete's 1ghz.kernal and dropped her to 800 MHz and still side my side with my gpa12 and 1.2ghz Pete's kernal her phone still opens and closes programs faster it wouldn't be a problem if her phone didn't play audio and voicemails that found like the chipmonks

sentences dude...sentences. i had to read this like 4 times to figure out where the sentences began and ended lol

i'm not sure, but i had an interesting audio issue as well. when i pressed the up-volume rocker my phone would hiss loudly, and then continue to hiss until i turned it down... very odd. it didn't persist after a reboot -- went right away and never came back.

i too am curious to see if anyone else has experienced this or if there are any answers as to why... lol

i just had a thought...soda typically is rather acidic... acids have a high conductivity coefficient... what if the acid from the soda is increasing the frequency of the signal that hits the receiver... thus causing the increase in pitch... ?

that idea walks the line or smart and idiotic... whatever lol

I could understand the acid idea but when she recieves a phone call it doesn't do it only with saved audio or saved voicemails

I too have actually had this weird "audio speed-up / sounds like chipmonks" problem as well.

Since I havn't spilled soda or any acid on my phone, I thought I might as well explain what I've seen. Maybe help narrow down the issue :)

For starters, it doesn't happen on my phone consistently. When it does start happening, it usually last several hours before randomly stopping.

I use the GrooveShark app in my car (headphone jack to radio thing). Since the GrooveShark app is really buggy, I initially thought it was GrooveShark being retarded. However, after some testing, it did start doing it on other "media" applications like Pandora and several games, like PewPew.

I also noticed that restarting the phone does /not/ alleviate the problem. Like I mentioned, it simply decides to start working again.

I usually have this problem about one day every week or so.

Here's some notes on my ROM / Kernal setup:

I initially had this problem while running:

BuglessBeast 6.* (pretty much all the v6 versions)
    Slahyer 1.2GHz

    GPA10
    Slahyer 1.2GHz

    GPA12
Pete's 1.2GHz (I started using Pete's when he released the faster ghz versions)

So, what's interesting is that I've had the problem intermittently across several ROMS and Kernals.

I've also never been able to specifically reproduce the problem.

Like I mentioned, it will randomly start doing it one day. Then, several hours later, start working fine.

Thinking back, no "overarching" event comes to mind. Like, it seems to be somewhat random.

Now, since it is random, I havn't really compiled a list of circumstances...

I'll definitely report back here though, if I happen to figure out how to reproduce or what the common 'event' is that triggers the ChipmonkMode.

Anyways, just thought I'd throw this out there and say that you're not the only one with a Chipmonk phone.

Hope we can get to the root cause of this.

P.S. Oh lawds. After posting this... I totally see my addiction to line breaks.... haha

Actually the phone does tend to run a bit hotter than normal with moderate use. It never reaches a "too hot" level but it is a bit warmer

I may have found The solution. I took out the SD card and cleaned on the contacts on it and its been a full day with no issues it also seemed to cool the phone down a bit.

Huh, I'll need to try the SD Card thing.

    Now, here's a little update:

I was listening to GrooveShark in the car on the way to work today, and the ChipmonkMode activated once again.

So, with GrooveShark still playing, I decided to jump into SetCPU and copy the "Info" page.

After about 5 minutes, it stopped being weird... but then restarted once I got to my office. So I decided to take another copy of the Info.

Just now, I am playing the same song as before, and ChipmonkMode is off. So I've taken another copy of the Cpu info to act as the comparison.

I havn't really looked at the values.... but I thought it would be interesting for all of us to take a look at it and see if we noticed anything interesting:

Sorry for the wall-o-text. I can edit this and use PasteBin if you guys would like that better.

I'm really interested if someone can spot something "wrong" with these info dumps.
