I have been trying to install the Nougat beta on my Galaxy S7 Edge for a few weeks now. I wan not aware of the registration for the beta program, and by the time I found out about it all the spots were filled. Luckily I was able to find an update.zip file that had been pulled and was able to flash that in recovery. I am now on the Beta Nougat build. One thing I noticed in the notifications shade was a quick settings toggle for "performance mode". I was thinking this would be possibly some preset governors for cpu performance. It turns out that enabling this mode allows for full brightness regardless of ambient light sources, and bumps the resolution of your display to QHD. Upon snooping around in the display settings I found that the display defaults to 1080p resolution and you have to turn on QHD if you want it. This is possibly in an attempt to save battery life. I for one decided to leave the screen at 1080p and it still looks incredible.
