Notifications

I want to get a ringtone notification when I get a text, but not when I get an email. This is how my Droid 1 worked, but for my new Droid 4 it seems if I can get the ringtone for both or neither. Is it possible?

(I do want to continue to get the icon for email when I turn Notifications on.)

Just like your Droid, you have a system "default" notification sound and then each app has it's own ability to set notification sounds (email/text). Check no notification sound in your email app and set your notification sound in your text messaging app. I think Gmail and the stock text app both use the "default" sound by default so you need to disable and/or change what you want in those two apps.
