Is there an app out there that makes the notification bar wider I have to try to grab it about 4 or 5 times before I can pull it down

Do you have long finger nails? If you do, try angling your finger more sideways to the screen and use the pad of your finger to "grab" the notification bar.

You can also press Menu, Notifications to get to your notifications. I would think that 2 button presses is easier than the 5 or 6 times it takes to pull the notification shade down.

launcher pro

I installed launcher pro as a home replacement and you can long press on any dock bar item and select swipe gesture action and I set it so thatwhen I swpe it opens the notification bar and or page.

I found a black theme for notification bar. I'm downloading it right now. Looks pretty nice.

It doesn't work well with fission.. A buncha force closes.
