Over the past 339 days that I have owned my D1, I would bet that I have flashed 100+ roms. I have finally come to the conclusion that none of them really run any smoother, or better than Pete's FRG22D DeOdexed rooted rom. I am pledging to quit, but I know that as soon as the final version of CM6.1 rolls out this resolution will be over.
And of course, I'm sure I will be among the earliest of adopters of whatever Google releases next.

If you say so lol. I've tried MANY roms myself. All the MIUI roms, Bugless, Cyanogen etc...

A lot of them have cool features and whatever but I always come back to the Charity Smoked glass ROM. Over clocked to 1000mhz max, 400 min and 400 when screen is off the battery life is AMAZING! It's by far the fastest on smoothest ROM I've put on my phone yet! If you havent tried it I highly recommend it!!!

It is one year of Droid ownership today for me and I have tried many ROM's as well - I will keep my personal ROM preferences off of the Forum but I will say this - I will take a source ROM over non-source any day

Twice I've had roms on my phone that were fast and smooth with no redraw issues, but both times I couldn't resist the allure of new roms. I'm running the charity rom as of this morning and so far it's doing pretty good.

I to have flashed a zillion roms. I find it that that stock unrooted rom is best for me. The battery life is way better than any other ROM that I found yet.

Good Luck to all for finding your ROM nitch

Joe I totally agree with you on this one. I've tried every Rom that has come out and the Charity Smoked Glass Roms always come out on top. The latest is phenominal. But again, some phones just don't seem to work well with different Roms. My Droid loves the Charity Roms and the kernels they come with, but have worked terrible with others. And I always flash with Clockwork.

I love Charity, CM, MIUI, Bugless, LFY, Lithium, etc., but today I loaded up MetickOne's FRG22D rom and slapped on the GalaS theme and it's amazing. It has the MIUI-style keyboard and just looks better than stock, but runs just as well. Amazing.

I always use Clockwork as well. It's amazing how ROMs change phone to phone. Some swear by Bugless but I thought it was slow, I loved ShadowRom until the SmokedGlass v10, but some people hate ShadowROM

How do I get and install this rom? I am running rooted FRG01B and I get constant nags to update but if I do I will loose the root. So how do I get a FRG22D already rooted?

Www.peteralfonso.com. you may already have this done, but make sure you have a custom recovery installed before you attempt to install a ROM. Rom manager from market makes it easy to flash a recovery. I use clockwork, but spr works just the same but you have to rename all your roms to update.zip and put on root of sd card. Flash a couple time and make sure erase recovery before flashing is check in rom manager options to make sure the recovery flash sticks.
