I'm new to having a data plan on my phone and was wondering about the security of it. Say I have a nosy wife or girlfriend, can they get on my phone and look at the Internet sites I go to even if I clear my history? And or with my passwords and numbers call Verizon to find out what Internet sites I visited? I'm assuming that Verizon is like any other ISP and will keep a record of Internet sites you go to is this right?

As far as I know, once I clear my history its gone. I dont think VZW will tell you. If your that worried about what you look at on your phone there are apps that lock apps

I did find a app called application protection but I found it a little easy to uninstall it thus removing the app protection. I guess I'm less concerned about my phone browser history and more of verizon's data base. When I go into the verizon store to pay a bill or change my plan

if you text it, browse it, call it, the data exists.... even if you delete it.

That's not to say cell phone company will just give it to anyone. There has to be court orders, etc.

Mod Edit - lets keep this clean and on topic

nm my story.... you posted while i was typing. They CAN, I suppose, but they lose their jobs for that. There are policies in place. You have to trust in the policies since most don't want to lose their jobs. However, I am not so naive to think that just because you make bank robbery illegal, that prevents all future bank robberies

is the girl behind the counter going to see that I've been looking at nothing but raunchy porn sites? Or my girlfriend being able to find exactly what I do on the internet?

IMHO I would worry about viruses and dont want to hear about an anti-virus. But if your gf does finds out (they always do), thats one last thing to worry about. We do deal with droid related problems here, but not the ones your dealing with.

I find it hard to believe anyone at VZW will be able to easily pull your browsing history, let alone a sales rep at one of their stores. There are FCC regulations about who could access information like that and "random VZW employee" doesn't fall under that category. Your safe there.

Let's keep this thread on the topic at hand with no "adult web browsing" conversation involved -

Alright, I just asumed they could; last week the girl at the counter was fliting with me and giving me a hard time because I called 411.

Definitely, adult web browsing is bad and no one should do it.

Call logs and server logs are entirely different. A CSR isn't going to simply glance over whatever data access logs they keep.

No, it's just not allowed discussion here.
