So I have just updated my droid to v0.8 of Bugless Beast Rom. I have now tried to run the update to bump it up to v0.9. I download the file, change it to "update.zip". Move file to SD Card. Reboot, click on install. Then click on "Allow update.zip Installation". Screen does nothing. I then click on "INstall /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated). It takes about one second and this is what shows up.

    -- Install from sdcard...
    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    Verifying update package...
    Installing update...
    Rooting your phone...

    Install from sdcard complete.
    ---

The status bar at the bottom is never completely yellow, only a minor fraction is yellow.

When I reboot my phone nothing has changed and it still says I'm running v0.8.

The update.zip problem occurs for all updates I have tried.

    I am running 0.99.3b

    Help please?

Wrong update.zip. Thats one to root your phone.

Check the size. I bet its ~10.2mb.

What is the link you are using for your update.zip download? to me it sounds like you aren't downloading the update.zip file for the ROM, but rather for root or something.

    You could be correct.

Here is the link to the page I was using. If I shouldn't post it let me know and I'll delete it.

I'd rather see the specific file you are trying to use.

How big is it? The one on your sd card.

That's what I want him to link...as in, what update.zip he is downloading. Not the thread in which he is downloading it from.

Hmmm, definitely the correct file. Very odd issue. If the download was corrupt it would usually say installation aborted, but just for ****s and giggles how big is the file?

androidoverdrive is where Pete hosts his ROMs. Thats kind of like giving the thread link the first time.

We, well I, want the actual file thats on your sd card.

He linked the file he actually downloaded, that link goes straight to an update.zip, the correct one....but don't know if he downloaded it fully or not. If he had a corrupt or shortened download he should get an install aborted error...

    Bugless Beast V0.9 ESE53

    62.0MB

That is the name of the update and the size of the file.

I got it from alldroid. I don't know what else I am needing to give you guys...I'm confused. I wish I knew more.

Is there a link that I should be going to?

Hence the reason why I'd like to crack the update.zip open and see what it really is.

Ok, do you have adb installed on your machine?

    Code:
    adb shell
    cd /sdcard
    ls -l >dir.txt

Then go onto your sd card, grab that file (dir.txt) and attach it to a post.

    To OP,

It seems like you have more than one update.zip file in the root of your sd card. You need to either delete or move to a folder all the update.zip files other than the one you are trying to install.

    Keep us updated.
