NOOB - Rooting Question - Help

I hope that got everyone's attention. OK, I rooted with easy root. Installed ROM Manager and flashed a new ROM, FRG22 to be exact. Stay safe until I figure out the process. After having to resign in my Google Account to the phone and then going to the market, it is re-downloading all my apps. I used Titanium Backup for this but I can't access it until it redownloads, at that point what's the point everything has already downloaded. Is there a way to stop these from downloading so I can use the Titanium Backup for a quicker reinstall since I don't have great 3G at my work?

You probably could turn sync off. I have the Power control widget on my screen and can access it from there.
