I've read that Bugless Beast, without overclocking, is still faster and smoother (and possibly more stable) than stock 2.1. Is that true? If I get an hour to kill tonight I hope to find out first hand, I'm just curious how (if true) that was accomplished.

Also, any negative/positive effects on battery life?

It's probably true on a purely academic level, but I'd have to experience it to tell you if it's noticable.

I believe its true. Petes BB has a really good way of freeing up ram and therefore resources to keep the phone running at its fastest. Battery life has been good for me but I am OC to 1Ghz so it would probably be better if I was stock

I would say from experience that BB is must more stable than stock 2.1. I about gave up on this phone until I rooted and went with BB. My phone runs smoother, faster and cooler. I've tried other ROMS, some had a better/different theme or functionality to them but as far as durability you can't go wrong with BB in my opinion. I'm not trashing any bodies elses setup, BB just runs better for me.

    place on root of card
    Allow install
    Then install
    Reboot and enjoy.

Thanks. Done with RSDLite (that error message before closing RSDlite is a little un-nerving).

One thing I just realized I'm unsure of, what do I do to install the Smoked Glass version? I have the 63MB ROM zip file, but I also have the 13MB theme file. Would it be better to just buy ROM manager?

Thanks for all the help! Oh and no rush on the answer since you are driving, I've got to take a break to throw dinner on the grill anyway :)

Make sure you have a backup of your clean room first.
Change the bugless beast rom to update.zip
Allow the installation of the zip file then installed the zip file.
reboot then make another backup of the bugless beast clean rom.
Remove update folder from your sd card.
Rename the new theme you update.zip.
Allow and install update.zip as before.
    Reboot and enjoy!

Rom manager is cool and all but I've been trying to things manually insted of letting programs do it for me. I'm still new at this myself but I've rooted several phones and messed with a few roms. It all just depends on how involved you want to get with this.

It's like crack to me personally... :icon_ banana:
