Are they still grandfathering in unlimited data plans?

Buddy of mine just got grandfathered, when he got his Bionic about 2 weeks ago.

They should, it's what they're supposed to do.

If you read that note about the Nexus I believe that was towards new customers or people considering getting a smartphone.

You already are grandfathered into unlimited data if you currently have a smartphone, the day Verizon stops people from keeping unlimited data and upgrading, you will know. People will not be too happy, but for now your fine.

I know the grandfathering applies to the unlimited part, but how much extra does it cost for the new 4g plan

No premium for 4g, only sprint is dumb enuf to do that.
