There are sometimes legal reasons billion dollar companies cant release things.

The multitouch was probably 1 flag in the code that was changed. Who handles the Android version for droid? Motorola? They got the SDK not long ago and who knows how much optimization they are putting into it? It could be 10 times faster than the N1 once released.

Hopefully we will get the nightmode before daylight savings time were it starts to become somewhat of a moot point for me (at least for six months!).

God let's hope that's not the case, we haven't even gotten 2.1, then to have to wait two more months for 2.2? No thanks.

As for the OTA update that is handled by VZW....but the Droid is running base stock 2.0.1, which means that when the official 2.1 (non-nexus) is released it could be installed onto the droid. I don't know if Moto is tweaking it to play nicer on the Droid's hardware, but I don't see any reason that these updates shouldn't be on Droid the second they hit Nexus...I'm actually really surprised Droid didn't get an official 2.1 release same day as Nexus.

As was said, who cares what happens in the world of OTA, the devs are making this opensource OS better every day! I have more trust in them than VZW or Moto.

I feel abandoned... typical of Verizon.

I know VZW handles the OTA update, but Motorola must be tweaking Android for Droid, if not, VZW would have to hire people to do it and that is unreasonable. HTC probably had a deal with Google to let them have 2.1 for some time, just like the Droid has 2.01 and other phones don't.

Maybe we're not being left behind... maybe Motorola had inklings of this so they waited on pushing 2.1 to Droid so that we can take advantage of all the changes....

then again maybe not... but I'm staying optimistic for now.

it has nothing to do with verizon, motorola has to optimize any updates for our devices BEFORE any OTA can be pushed.
