Perhaps why we are still waiting on 2.1 for the Droid? :)

Makes sense. Why push a nerfed 2.1 to the Droid when they were planning on releasing an update to the N1...

If any confirmation is given that we for sure won't get multitouch for the Droid, I *will* switch to the N1 when it comes to Verizon. I love the Droid, and I do hate HTC hardware, but the OLED screen and slimmer package (I don't use the Droid's hardware keyboard) are attractive, and stock multitouch would be enough to push me into getting an N1.

Just root your droid and youll have it.

Or..you can port the 2.1 apps over to a non rooted. And add dolphin or xscape and have it.

You know, with the N1 someone will port the rom over. And then I will be happy!

If multitouch for Google Maps is just an app update, wouldn't it be trivial to get it to the droid?

    Me want. Now.

Would be super cool if all of this is included in the 2.1 update.

I wonder if this is a big FU to Apple after Steve Job's alleged threatening to Google and Android lol! I don't think Google wants to play nice anymore lol

On the Droid. I think we are stuck with what we've got now.

I think google was planning this the whole time. First get sales with the release push...then reel in a ton more people with a quick update after.

Looks like maps 3.4 is more than just multitouch. Not sure when that is going to hit the market, I checked but it hasn't been updated yet. Might somehow be included in this OTA update.

Yea as far as maps goes, someoen will come up with a file to just install it, even if it isn't in the market. Just like the 2.1 clock, news, app drawer and so on.

Yeah I agree with that, we will see that before we see an update for the Droid ourselves.

Is the nexus update still at 2.1? I was figuring they would jump to 2.2.
