Here’s some exciting news for this morning. Alvaro Fuentes Vasquez, an official on the Open Handset Alliance tweeted last night:
Prepare your Nexus One (Developer version) for Android OTA update 2.3 (Gingerbread) in the next few days [IMG]
Now it’s not exactly clear what “developer version” means. If that’s some other version of the N1 that the general public doesn’t have, or if anyone with a Nexus One (which was the development phone) will start pulling down the 2.3 update.

I know I personally will be spamming *#*#CHECKIN#*#* on my Nexus One over the next few days and I expect anyone else with a N1 to do the same!

Very true, however that can take some time. Nexus One owners have the advantage due to getting the update straight from Google, while the Droid's update will come from Verizon OTA. Who knows if they even have it yet. Then it has to be branded, and tested. In the meanwhile the Nexus Version of 2.3 would suffice.
