Rootjunky is back with another one! So far he has shown us how to bypass the factory reset protection on Samsung and LG devices. Today he released another video walking us through the method for bypassing factory reset protection on the Nexus 6p and Nexus 5x. The method is just as daunting as previous methods, but the results are worth it for anyone who has had to deal with the frustration of being locked out of a used phone that you just purchased.

It should be noted that this is not intended to be used by thieves, but it is just the nature of the hack that this may end up being used by those not operating within the scope of the law. More than likely Google will eventually shut this down with a monthly security patch once they find out these methods exist. Hopefully Rootjunky will be able to find us another method for accessing our used devices once this happens.

While I totally understand the frustration with this protection when buying or selling a used device, this part scares me:

Because you KNOW it'll be used by at least someone some time to gain use of a stolen device.

Android will always be second tier if a high end device cannot be protected from theft.
