    Gents,

Quick question for you educated types:

I recently thought about rooting, and flashed SPRecovery onto my phone. I'm not sure if I'm going to load up any custom ROMs yet, so I'm leaving SPRecovery installed for now. I'm still on the stock 2.1-1 update my phone came out of the box with.

My question to you is: Let's say Verizon rolls out the OTA update to 2.2 for my Droid in the coming weeks. Will having SPRecovery installed instead of the stock recovery prevent this update from happening? Could it cause any potential issues? Or will it update as normal?

    Thanks for your help.

Yes it will prevent it from happening.

If I were to flash the stock recovery back on the phone, would the OTA update work correctly?

Wait, did you root your phone? If you only flashed a recovery and are sitting unrooted, it might still OTA you. But if you root the update-1 it will probably not still work... good question I really haven't cared about OTA's from Verizon in some time, would be interested to know to just know lol :p

I haven't loaded a ROM yet, I've only installed SPRecovery. I'm still running unrooted stock 2.1.

    Not exactly.

It will prevent it from BEING APPLIED automatically.

You can still go into the recovery screen, select "Allow update.zip", then "Apply update.zip" and you'll get the 2.2 upgrade.

Then you will have a slow version of Froyo lacking all the cool features and not rooted.

What is the point of that? Download a Froyo ROM today and enjoy.

    I prefer ChevyNo1's SimplyStunning 4.5.
