When you are rooted you have super user access. Meaning you can change delete system files that you normally wouldn't be able to and a whole lot of other stuff. If you haven't already rooted you better get to it, well worth it. Not sure about the app you speak of sorry.
Make sure u get the latest update from motorola first, it comes with a bunch of speed improvements and bug fixes. Although, if u do that there's no guarantee that you'll be able to root for a few days, in case it messed up current methods of rooting.
