I had CM7 on my OG Droid which I just retired last night due to a friend donating a D2G to me. Its currently rooted on GB. I've read that you cannot flash CM7 over stock GB. If this is true, what do I need to do?

You cannot flash official builds from CM website over stock GB. Go here instead and get a build based on the GB kernel:

Also, there is a commit that is under review that will change the official builds to be based on the GB kernel.
