    Se7enLC,

You said that the Se7enLC "Enable/Disable SD card installation" is no longer needed. Pete incorporated in BB V0.3, however will his script survive a reboot. Someone said it would not. (Post # 68 'apps2sd -i' will get you the old, default behavior of installing all apps to internal memory by default. It must be run after each reboot, however.)

Can you confirm Pete's script will survive a reboot. Thanks!

Yes, the apps2sd script WILL survive a reboot. Run it once, and the option you pick will stay there until you run it again. The person who wrote post #68 was just applying what they knew about 0.2 incorrectly to 0.3.

Here's the details for anyone that is curious:

In version 0.2, the line "pm setInstallLocation 2" was added to the boot script "install-recovery.sh" to force all installs to go to the SD card. You can run the pm command to change that, but the boot script will change them back. As of version 0.3, that line is no longer in the boot script.

The pm command by itself makes permanent changes, it was only the startup script that made them get reverted.

You can test this yourself like I have if you would like:
1). Type either "pm setInstallLocation 1" or "apps2sd -i" to set the install location to be internal. (alternatively, you can use "pm setInstallLocation 2" or "apps2sd -e")
    2). Reboot
3). Type "pm getInstallLocation" to see that the install location is still what you set it to.

Big favor to ask... I have been a user of this script since it was in the diapers stages. But, I have never been able to download it from the stock browser.

Can you make it in a way where us (stock browser users) can download it using our droids please?

Huh. I guess I never tried to download it with the browser - it doesn't work!

The problem is that the Android Browser refuses to download any file that it doesn't have a program association for. The only reason I uploaded it to droidforums as a text file was because it doesn't allow me to upload it with no extension, and it IS a text file.

I even tried downloading ASTRO File Manager and enabling Browser Downloads. That should allow you to download any type of file without needing to have an associated application - but that doesn't work, either.

As a workaround, I posted a copy of it in a ZIP file. You should be able to download that so long as you have something installed that can read zip files.

Thank you I used the zip one. I don't have to wait until I get home tonite and I can do it directly from the droid now.

I did all of my testing and most software installations using either Dropbox or Chrome-To-Phone. Dropbox is nice because I can just upload any file to my Dropbox and then click to download on the droid easily. Chrome-To-Phone is nice when I find a link to an apk or zip file I want while browsing a forum, and I can just right click and send that link directly to the phone rather than having to browse in.

But when carrying the droid is the only option, I wasn't able to download the script. And I couldn't wait to get home to use it.

Sad that the droid can't download simple .txt files out of the box

I just downloaded 0.4 and looked at install-recovery.sh. It looks the same as 0.3, so I suspect setspeed will still work fine.
