People that have no idea how technology works and think they need to record everything in 4k.
I'd rather shoot in 4k, and not need it, than....well you know the rest.

4k displays aren't that far out of reach anymore, and soon will be the run of the mill product being sold.

That's fine, but don't be surprised if you lose friends because you sent them over their monthly bandwidth cap when they try to watch your videos. ☺

I suppose that is a concern for some, but I don't worry about who watches most of what I record. The majority of it isn't for sharing over the net anyway.

That brings up a question.
If I upload a 4k vid to YouTube, and send you the link, can't you choose a lower res to watch in?

Yes. You can set YouTube to default to lower resolution in playback settings.
