I LOST ROOT SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!
LoL. Hopefully its a relatively easy mod and something geo will have the time and inclination to do...!
Sorry to hear that Steeveegee! There's really not much you can do at this point aside from waiting on developers to come up with an updated root method. Being that it was one of the more difficult devices to find an exploit to begin with, I wouldn't count on a new root method anytime soon. On a positive note, you'll now get all the latest OTAs right away, so there's that to look forward to. Keep an eye on XDA and Geohot and hope for the best, stranger things have happened. Good luck!

what a shame!
what good is an O.T.A update if your phone runs worse then before?
galaxy s5 is a beautiful phone but a laggy p.o.s with verizons crap on it
i could understand voiding your samsung warranty with root but this is retarded
i dont understand why they care if its rooted so much.
i was so unhappy with this phone then came towelroot and all was perfect
i had this thing running perfectly
i wonder how long till someone fixes this
The problem was, too many people over the years who had no clue what they were doing started rooting their phones and bricking them. They would then return said brick to Verizon under warranty or insurance for a replacement, which obviously came out of Verizon's pocket. Because of this, carriers like Verizon & AT&T started locking down their phones and making it extremely difficult to root, thus solving (for the must part) their bricked phone/insurance replacement problem.

swapped kernels and rooted once more
all is right in the world now thanks to the guys from xda
anyone who is interested here is the link:
root junky also has a video that walks you through the process and links all the files needed
So after you all have rooted, what is the first few things you do to optimize the S5?
these are the first things i do
use titanium backup to freeze all bloatware and back up all apps
install adfree it kills all the ads on your phone
there are a ton of other things you could do but for those two apps alone root is worth it
my phone is running like butter now but with verizons stuff its laggy even swiping the screens the animation would jerk often
if your comfortable enough to do it without messing your phone up then do it
but you'll void your warranty
this isn't working for me
Probably because this was the original root method and the S5 has had a few updates since this came out, thus changing the root process. If you can tell me who your carrier is and what OS version you're on, I can point you to the correct root method.
