I'm really frustrated with my OG droid. The battery life sucks after almost two great years of android goodness, I've been getting lots of random reboots, and I'm eligible for an upgrade on the 28th of this month. Any thoughts on which phone I should get?

    Features I need:

    -root
    -good battery life
    -screen larger that 3.7
    -gingerbread if possible (not necessary)

Recently, I have been considering the Thunderbolt and the Droid Incredible 2, although I'm open to any other Verizon Androids.

Thanks in advance for your input/advice.

And you need a phone or you just want to upgrade? Why not wait a bit for the bionic? Have you rooted your og? I'm on OG and I've got gingerbread and my battery life can be seven hours more if I stopped messing with it. I'm on CM 7.0.3

Yeah my droid is rooted. I'm running LGB 2.1 right now. I might have to try cyanogenmod. And the bionic is looking pretty good right now. I just saw the leaked poster on the droidforums homepage. Hopefully the bionic will come out this month before I upgrade!!!

All info so far points to an August 4 release for the Bionic. Though, if it's like the Droid 3, it may be released a week sooner which would be perfect for you. Honestly, the Bionic looks to be the first exciting 4G device for Verizon. Considering it's the same price, going 4G makes sense when upgrading.

By the way, the Thunderbolt is one of the hardest phones to root unless you're familiar with adb shell and it really is a repackaged phone from 2010 with 4G jammed in.

Okay thanks for you help guys. Not that 4G is a big deal breaker for me, since we probably won't have 4G in my area until 2013. The Bionic looks pretty future-proof since it's dual-core.

Yea bionic has been all but confirmed, but if you can wait, Id wai to see when the Galaxy S2 is coming out. Unlockable bootloaders are always better, also supposedly the processor will be better

If the D3 is unlocked I'll definitely have to pick one up soon. There is no 4G in my area, so I really don't have to wait for the bionic..

All the peep complaining about battery life on their D1s should really consider that at approaching 2yrs age the battery SHOULD suck. Buy a new one, you'll be amazed.
