new phone not working

I just bought a Droid2 yesterday...It worked fine yesterday...didn't charge it...accept for one hour...Today it was fine until this afternoon...then it went blank. I took the battery out and put it back in...and have been charging it for a few hours...Still dead, accept a green light that flashes on the top...my power light...I try holding down the power button but nothing...Is there something else I should be doing or is it broken...?
Any advice...?

A long press on the power button or a short one?
i.e did you power down the phone.

I think your battery needs charging, that's all.
