new droid owner and wondering about free text app

    hey, new droid 2 owner and was wondering if anyone could explain concept of free texting app and if its worth it?

    Before I had unlimited text, I used gtalk. And still do. It uses data and doesn't count against your texts. I think thats what you're asking.

    Sorry if slow and annoying but was wondering how it works, but I was looking for unlimited texts and does my phone# still show up or will it say something different? Thanks for the patience

    If you have unlimited data, then you'll have unlimited texts with gtalk, since it uses your data. It works off your gmail account, so thats what shows when you use it. Doesn't show your number, it shows the name on the gmail account.
    Also, if you have google's chrome browser on your pc, you can use gtalk from it.

    The best way to know is to try it. Gtalk is good, but even if I had your phone number, I couldn't send you a text in gtalk. I'd have to invite you to gtalk. So your friends would need gtalk, too. Its kinda hard getting everyone to use the same app if they have been using something else thats been working for them.
