One more toe in the water and then I dive. Do I have to wipe the Operating System or will ROM Manager/Clockwork do that during the installation of the new ROM?

I think I'm gonna go with Liberty.

If you have bootstrapper, throw rom mangler out the window. You can wipe everything from clockwork :)

ClockworkMod. Use bootstrapper to get to recovery/ClockworkMod. You'll see the options to wipe. Rom manager is known to have issues, that why I said that.

It's been a while since I've used clockwork, so maybe Chevyboyz can help. But under the advanced options or partitions (that's where my memory fails me) there are options to wipe the dalvick cache. It's not a bad idea to do that every once in awhile. And under one of those options, I believe it's the advanced options, you can wipe the battery stats if your battery is at 100%.

Hello, Chevy. I didn't try the ROM replacement last night. It got to be too late one my Kids` homework was completed, dinner eaten, yadda, yadda...

Will most assuredly try it tonight when I get home from work.

What I was lacking were the individual steps from within ClockworkMod. I found those on one of the links yooz guys sent, so now I think I'm set.

Thanks for asking.

Oh yea its not a problem. Clockwork recovery is really user friendly. I was nervous before i flashed my first rom which was Liberty v1.0. I also did it through recovery. Once you do it for the first time and get a feel for it you will prolly catch on very quick with it. Flashing can get addictive once you start tho haha

WE DID IT!! WE DID IT!!
Got Liberty as ROM now. Feel like the king of newly conquered country. Thanks to all of you. I need to explore now. Any recommendations.

Man, this feels good.

CONGRATS! Now that you have that, make another backup. You can never have too many backups. You can always delete the older backups with a file manager. They would be located in /sd/clockwork/backup. If you want to explore, themes are one thing you can try. There's also overclocking and under volting. Just read up on that and be careful. Doing that the wrong way could lead to bootloops. If you do bootloop, just go into recovery and flash your backup. One thing to remember if you do bootloop, go down in frequency or up in voltage. Things are a little different for my D1 and your D2 when it comes to overclocking, so maybe Chevyboyz can help you more.

My phone service is with Verizon. The stock rom had Backup Assistant for contacts. How do I get that back on my phone?

Hmm, Never used that. I'm guessing it's an app. Is there any way to redownload from Verizon? I guess you're asking because you're missing some some contacts. Your contacts should return after you log into your google account. This may not be the best way, but you could flash your backup when you had that backup assistance, get your contacts back, sync your contacts with your gmail, then reflash your newest backup of liberty. Then your contacts will be linked to your gmail and you should be ok. That's my fault for not suggesting you do that before hand :(

Oh yeah, 1 more thing. If you go that route of flashing back and forth, remember to wipe in between since your flashing different operating systems.

No problem, CJM. Went to the online Verizon Backup Assistant, downloaded my contacts to a csv file, imported it into gmail contacts online and it synced with my phone. All is well, my friend.
