If you are a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III owner and travel international pretty often, this guide we found should prove pretty useful to you. Because VZW included multiple radios, you can convert your VZW SGS3 into a world phone. We won't say it will be easy, because, as you can see below, the instructions are long. Still, if you follow them precisely, you can make your phone even more useful. It was developed by XDA member, lair12, and is much appreciated. Here's the breakdown below:
This has been tested in Russia, so it is known to work. Let us know how it goes for you if you have the need to use it.

    Or...

    • buy a cheap GSM phone (I keep an old jailbroken iPhone for travel).
    • Arrive at destination.
    • Walk into local carrier store.
    • Purchase a SIM card with 600 minutes/5GB data for around $60.
    • Tether your heart out.
    • Use Skype whenever you need to call home.
    • Save tons of $$$.
Unless your company is paying for it, or you're made of cash, NEVER globally roam.

    Ever.

Wow that's complex just to be able to roam internationally. I do like the idea of just getting a cheap GSM phone though. I'm paranoid though of forgetting stuff on trips.

Better yet, once your Verizon contract is up, leave for a carrier unlocked GSM phone and never look back (which is what I will be doing).
