I've done the unroot from Sholes (unfortunately I didn't see the other method on here in time), but there still seem to be some traces of it on my phone.

What items should I be looking for to delete...or better yet, is there something I can run to get rid of all traces of the root I did on the phone? I doubt that the store I'm returning it to will not the things in there, but I want to make sure that I don't get a nasty letter from Motorola a few weeks later.

I still have Superuser Permissions on here, as well as a number of other things.

If you have the superuser app then you are still rooted. Just follow the steps on this forum and you should be fine. I had to take my phone in this morning after I unrooted and had no problems getting a new phone.

ok, so that didn't work as easily as I hoped. Now I can't seem to load anything from the recovery sceen. I'm just getting an error that says

    E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

Jesus. I just decided to do a complete factory wipe/reset since I am returning the phone tomorrow anyway...and Superuser Permissions is STILL there. What the heck do I have to do to remove this thing?

I am terrified that they will not take my phone back...and I really need a new one since the call quality on this sucks.

Please help! I read somewhere that I could reroot and then remove it through terminal, but now SholesMod seems to be completely erased from the face of the planet. I am going to return this phone tomorrow and I'm desperate. Any info would be great.

you need to download the virginoem file that you can use to restore with nandroid.

Ok, I found that and I was able to root again. I figured out how to delete Superuser Permissions and then went back to stock. I checked my Phone files and noticed a few things related to sholes, a root folder, and few other things that might look fishy.

What should I be looking for and deleting?

Think I'm pretty clean now except for a few files...

Things like init.rc, init.sholes.rc, and others like that. Should those be on the phone folder??? I just don't want any traces!

Now that you are unrooted, do a factory wipe. If that doesn't help, go in and manually delete any anomalies (sholes, update.zips, any backups in your nandroid folder... hope that works for ya.

I feel like this should be my post because I'm having the exact same problems with the files such as init.sholes.rc! I can't find any way to rid my phone of them even after factory reset, wipe cache, reroot and try to delete.

I don't know anything about those files but I do know that Motorola used the term "sholes" during development. Maybe those files don't have anything to due with the Sholes.info mod?

Never took that into consideration. Excellent observation. Now if the op stumbles on this again please post if you were able to return it without a hitch. Thanks all.

I'm not the original poster, but I've had to return my phone and didn't need to go through all the extreme measures everyone is suggesting. I simply unrooted and deleted my themes and roms. transition was flawless.

Did yall just go into the Verizon store and they did an exchange right there for you? My up volume rocker is having some issues that I want it exchanged it out for, which would require me having to unroot.
