Ok so after over a week of lurking around this site and others like it i've finally decided to root my DROID2. I've found a whole slew of different ways to do this. I have ubuntu on my PC and am just learning how to use it. I found a one click program for linux but the code looked suspicious. Does anyone have links for a linux sbf and a way to root my droid either using linux or the terminal emulator on my phone?

No I don't have an account. So do I just go to dropbox.com? And are you sure it's for droid2? All the z4 root links i've found are for x and don't work

If you post a link to the file he doesn't need an account just to download it

Its no problem. I'm glad everything came together and you could get it rooted. Might want to look at jrummys "droid overclock" app. Jrummy16 has some amazing work. He and kejar31 also put out the liberty rom which i currently have and hands down the best IMO

Dropbox also is a good way to backup files and post links/pictures in PM's. Its also an app on the market and its really easy to send files to it (ex. take picture/click share/click dropbox/uploaded to dropbox).

Thanks for the advice. I'll check it out. Don't have it rooted yet though. Just downloaded it which is further than i've gotten before. I want to get an sbf before I root. I like to have safety net.

These are the backups I have made. I made them through ROM Manager app. It has the option "backup current rom" and all I did was root my phone with z4 and then download droid bootstrapper and rom manager. Then after I had rom manager I backed up the stock rom. If you ever need to go completely stock then all you would have to do is boot into recovery with droid bootstrapper and go to "backup restore" and restore the stock backup then open z4 and click unroot. After its unrooted just use a file manager such as Astro to delte all the rooted files such as superuser files. I hope this makes sense
