OK, I'm new to the Droid X, but reasonably tech savvy. I've had my phone for a few months now, and I've been very happy with it, but a few days ago, I noticed something rather strange.
I've been using the advanced task killer to monitor app usage, and kill things as needed (generally only a few times a day is necessary). Well, a few days ago, I started noticing apps that I wasn't using beginning to pop up for no reason, even if I just let the phone sit idle for a period of time. They'll still re-start after I go in and kill them. Again, this didn't start happening until just recently.
Here's a list of the ones that keep popping up...
Skype Mobile (I'm not using it at all...I don't even have an account for Skype).
Files
Music (why would this even come up???)
Contacts
Voice Commands
Car Dock (haven't used it a single time since I got my phone)
Google Search (Hardly ever use it, and don't have it on any of my home pages)
Is there a way for me to find out what's initiating the start up of these services / apps? It's really bothering me because I don't know what's going on in the background. The only apps I've downloaded recently are the full version of NFS Shift (just because EA had a special going on, and it was only 99 cents), and Angry Birds - Seasons (my 5 yr. old son really likes playing that game).
Like I said, this just started less than a week ago, so I'm wondering if my son accidentally clicked an ad while playing angry birds? Any help y'all could give would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to uninstall or change the settings whatever it is causing this...
On a similar subject, is there a way to get rid of he bloatware that comes on the phone from Verizon? Would I have to be rooted to get rid of those?
