I'm hoping someone can help me and i'll try to be brief.. Just bought a used droid.. my friend i purchased it from says its already rooted but when i check in terminal emulator it says access denied. from all my research over the last three days i've come to the conclusion its not rooted even though it does display the little ninja logo..
    phone info:
    motorola droid 1
    firmware:2.1update1
    baseband version:C_01.3E.03P

my question is can someone give me links (that arent dead, 3 days of countless forums of dead links and im at my whits end) on how to get my phone back to stock so i can update the firmware to 2.2 through the phone. or can i just go threw the root process over (or should i even re root??). i had an htc running windows mobile so im a droid newb... be gentle... thank you.. tim

Go in and click on the ninja, see if terminal emulator is listed, if it is, click on it and select forget. Close that and reopen term emulator. Type su and hit enter. See if u get a popup asking for permission, if so it means u r rooted. Select allow.

What I think you should do is sbf to the latest update. Follow the instructions in the link below. All the links have been updated to get you to the last update in 2.2

    Good luck.

Not outdated information, just bad links. A mod should probably edit that thread to proper links, if they are broken (maybe the site is just temporarily down and they know about it).

Peter Alfonso <-- the FRG83D.sbf file can be found there.

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html <-- that guide has links to RSDLite and the drivers, otherwise you can follow the guide hookbill linked to get back to stock.
