I have a rooted droid 2 running the vanilla fission rom.

Whenever I reboot the device, it gets stuck at the boot screen (where it shows the droid eye) and keeps reanimating it. I'm new to droids, but I'm guessing my phone has been bricked. I tried factory resetting, but that didn't wipe the custom rom

So I need to know or some sort of instructions to solve this problem please.
I have a windows computer btw. Much appreciated.

Did you make a original nandroid backup before you flashed the new rom?

Have you tried booting into recovery and doing a factory reset? Hold x on the keyboard while booting, when it gets to the droid with the ! Behind it then hit the search button, and do wipe data/cache (factory reset).

Hope that helps.... if not then its sbf time.

Just to clarify, once you see the android guy, you want to press the search on the keyboard, not the touch button. Perform the factory reset/clear cache on there and you should be good to go

    Hey guys.

I tried wiping the cache and then factory wiping. It finally got past the booting screen, but when I locked my phone.. it started reanimating the booting screen again.

And no I don't think I made a nandroid backup when I flashed the new rom.:(

I think it is time for sbf or w/e that is. I tried researching on sbf, but the links provided for downloads were not working.

You would probably have a lot better help if you post in the D2 Hacks section and not the general section. You may want to try that... Don't take that the wrong way..it's just some of the more experienced people tend to read more of the posts specific to they phone they know the best.

I don't really know a whole lot about your phone, and I just want you to get the best help possible, and I think posting there will get you more experienced help.

Sounds like you installed without wiping. You may have, I'm just saying based on your symptoms that's what generally happens.

Do another factory reset, then immediately reflash your ROM. If you still can't boot normally or have more bootloop problems then you'll need to SBF the phone and start over.

And please, it'd be to your advantage to do a lot more reading. That way you don't call a bootloop "bricked". :) Knowledge is power, after all. :D

Ok.. so I tried reflashing the mod and it seemed to do nothing. It still bootloops over and over again -___-

Is there a link to provide me recent and reliable instructions to SBF my droid 2?

Just provided links to someone having a very similar problem. :)

TBH & MyDroidWorld Present: Droid 2 (2.3.20) Triple Threat

    http://www.motorola.com/staticfiles/Support/Experiences/Global_Drivers/USB_Drivers_bit_4.8.0.exe

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...-using-rsd-lite-flash-sbf-file-correctly.html

The only thing you'll need to do differently is not worry about "catching the boot" because the D2 doesn't have the same glitch the D1 has.

Second link is to the installer program to clean out and reinstall your Motorola drivers. You'll want to reboot after you install the drivers just to be safe.

    Hey there.

Umm.. I'm a little confused on the links you posted. Between the 1st and 3rd link.. which one do I follow? or do I have to do both procedures?

    Update:

I don't know how this happened, but after charging my phone when it was dead.. my phone was stuck on the motorola logo.

I tried factory resetting, but it would not go pass the logo. I don't know what to do now. -___-'

That's weird on the file download. What did the notepad file say?

You use the method outlined in link 3, but you use the files from link 1. The method is identical, but the explanations are much, MUCH more detailed in link 3.

Boot Recovery mode? Not bootloader? Or if it's in bootloader and you can't get it to show up, try a different USB port. What Windows are you on and do you have Administrator access for that account?

Is your battery charged? Are you flashing the system-only or full SBF?

I'm assuming that my battery is charged, but whenever I plug it in to my charger, the moto logo stays on.

And I'm flashing the full SBF
