Need Help please!!! where can I start with SPRecovery

I wanted to replace the Verizon Wireless on my lock screen and notification Window. I'm using a Mac and was not able to modify the following file:
system/framework/framework-res.apk. I ziped the file and sent to another member who modified the file and returned.

I made a backup of the framework-res.apk file on my SD card and desktop.
Copied the new file that replaced Verizon Wireless with Mike's Droid to my SD card and renamed to framework-res.apk

Using RootExplorer, I copied the new file
I returned to system/framework and renamed the file framework-res-old.apk.

Next, I tried to paste the copied file into the folder. I thought the copy was working but my screen timed out and went black.
I pressed power and received notification and force closed. I tried several times with the force close but was not successful.

I pulled the battery and powered on. I'm stuck at the white Moto logo.

I'm rooted with Matth3W's so I have a backup. I'm not clear if I can restore to the BB7.5 version or stock

Is my best bet to return to stock and reinstall BB?

Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

    Mike

Boot into recovery, and restore with Nandroid. (Advanced Recovery). If your backup was BB7.5, you should be fine. If not, it will take you back to before you flashed BB7.5, but sprecovery should still on the phone.

I used Matth3Ws process to root. I was wondering if I could start at #34 and install the update.zip file.

    What do you think?

If not my only other backup is stock, I think

I used SPRecovery and was able to restore to my stock screen. Now I need to decide if I want to use the BB7.5 zip or go with the latest

Either way, I will ALWAYS make a backup of current before doing anything.
    Thanks for you help.

No problem, wasnt trying to come down on you if it sounded that way, was more trying to say I was lucky more than anything else...lol Anyway, Im running BBv1.1, with chevys 1.2gHz kernel, and loving it! Its smooth, stays cool, and has the live wall papers. They were cool for about 10 minutes, but I can show them off if I want to..

Sorry, if my reply sounded terse. I wanted to say that I agreed with your statement about backups. All you did was remind me to be more through when making any changes.

I'm glad to hear that BBv1.1 is working well for you. I've been very happy with BB7.5 so I've been on the fence about switching. Prior to my stupid mistake I was OC at 1000MHz and had excellent battery life. I'm not into the live wall papers. Based on your experience I think I will move to a newer release which, i believe, requires me to install an OC kernel. Is that correct? I'm not going to install the launcher for live wall paper. Worst case, I'll go back to 7.5

Thanks again for your help! I really appreciate it.
    Mike
