Hi, I can't cut or paste in the text program that came with my droid. Selecting text and scrolling are also very difficult. Is there a Better text program out there?
    thanks!

you don't need a new texting/text app. what you need to do is long press on the text, then a menu will pop up and paste/cut/etc are all on there.

Not true, try your own advice and copy one sentence of a text message. Not the whole text...

whoa. Thanks! But I have to select all of the text...can't just select a word or part of the message. Nevertheless, thank you...that helps!

sheesh, you people. do a quick double press to select a word, drag arrows to what you want selected; long press, etc etc etc

so do a little research before your next snarly reply.

just answered it! have fun with it! it may take a while to get used to using a touchscreen and where you need to press/figure out exactly where you are pressing

    editing texts

I appreciate your help. Im sorry that other person was rude.
Im still having several problems (although your advice helped on some).
If I turn the Droid X to landscape so I can text with both hands I cant see the text Im replying to and I cant edit the text I am typing (select, cut, paste, etc).

I can see the previous text and can edit when holding the phone in the normal mode.

Also, I can cut and paste old texts.

    Am I missing something here?
    thanks!

yeh, if that's your beef with the stock texting program, then you could try to find another one. but you're right, you can't see the other texts in landscape mode. though, you can hit the back key to return to the message list, do what you need to there, then tap in the text editor field and return to your text editor.

    That was unnecessary.

Anyway, I've tried handcent and I am enjoying it for the most part. Sometimes it will duplicate incoming messages (never happens with stock texter), but this is seemingly rare.

The customizations are nice as well.

I put my vote in for Handcent, although I have heard good things about ChompSMS (never tried it though)
