So I was using Navigation for the first time in a long while, and I tried to turn the screen off as normal with the power button. The screen does turn off, but comes right back on after a few seconds. Is this a bug, or by design? I don't always need to look at the screen, most times I just want the audio alerts. I don't recall it happening with other ROMs, but I've been on SS for several months now, and I could be wrong.

    Any help is appreciated! dancedroid

Same thing happened on a stock Droid X. In Google Maps in a Nav route hit the pwr button screen goes off and comes right back on. Maybe its an issue with Google maps. I'm curios now and wanna try this on my thunderbolt

Sent from my Thunderbolt crafted by the hands of Zues and delivered at 4G speeds.

I think it's a function of the latest Maps because it does it on my Thunderbolt as well (both stock and with a custom ROM). Don't know if it's 'on purpose' or not but they need to make it an option if it's there for a reason.

I too ran into this over the weekend. Found that I could turn off the display by hitting the home button. Nav was still running, so to check on time or distance, I had to pull down the notification bar and touch the nav notification item.

    Definitely annoying!

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad this happens on other ROMs/phones, but not too glad it happens...seems a little wasteful to force the screen on, when the user clearly wants to turn it off. But not a Chevy bug, so it's all good ;)
