naive question about "unlocked"

    i have an opportunity on a deal for an unlocked maxx second gen.
    am i going to have to jump hoops to activate it or will it activate like any standard verizon phone?

    basically the reason for my question is, as you know, it's easy to switch activate phones. would it be as easy with an unlocked phone? thx

    If the phone is carrier unlocked, there is no way for Verizon to know it is carrier unlocked to my knowledge.

    It should activate on Verizon's network just fine.
