Kit Kat will kill your battery. Do not down load.
Kit Kat was designed to optimize battery. Dunno where you heard that.

@besiggers is absolutely correct, KitKat itself if very battery friendly, much more so than Jellybean.

I don't think kitkat itself hurts battery life, otherwise the interwebs would be in an uproar over it. Kitkat did make my battery life worse, but it was already going downhill. I think my phone is defective, but I don't think I'll be able to convince Verizon without resetting my phone again.
I shipped my phone to LG today. I'll let you guys know what they find.
Wow. Really? Unfortunately you are mistake sir/ma'am. Kit Kat will not kill your battery. Not performing a FDR (Factory Data Reset) after the initial install of KitKat will.
The G2 I have here gets better battery life after KK and a factory data reset. But for some reason streaming songs using Google Play Music (via wifi or 4G) drains the battery twice as fast on the G2 as it does on the M8. Ain't figured that one out yet.
I got my phone back from LG today. It appears it's a replacement. I'm hoping for better results than with the other one I had.
Let us know.
I double checked and it looks like this is the same phone I sent out, or at least it had the same imei number. I'm going to call LG this afternoon and see what was done to the phone.
They may have simply swapped the battery. Is the battery life any better? That should give you a definitive answer.
Today the battery wasn't any better than before. Hopefully it will get better as I use it.
