Mute Problems

While talking on my droid phone I regularly encounter my phone muting itself. I am talking, all the sudden the person on the other end thinks my call has dropped, they say "hello", "hello" and I can still hear them. I have tried to wake-up the key pad to unmute, but they hang up before I can. Has anyone ever had this problem?
