Posted this earlier in the "2.1 Apps" thread..BUT it does deserve it's own thread, glad you started one.

I installed it earlier today and it works perfectly so far.

Other than the Tabs at the top there is not any difference. BUT the tabs are much nicer to use.

Oh, be sure to replace your Music Widget(if you are using it) with the new one because the original widget will open the old Music Player. It will be the 2nd "Music" Widget on the list (they both look the same).

Ah, thanks. I haven't been able to spend as much time on the forums today as usual due to pressing things like family and football.

I'm not sure if I'll use this version or mixzing going forward.

Yes, it was posted, but cool. i am running the 2.1 player on 2.0.1 and it seems a little nicer, but not light years better. But then again it seems like most of the 2.1 changes I have seen so far lean a little more to window dressing, and away from major functionality changes. Still, the 2.1 player runs very solidly, and I have had no issues with it since loading it a day or so ago.

I loaded the new player. While not a leap forward, it's definitely a step forward. Works like 2.0/2.01 with a nicer UI. Worth the upload.

By the time 2.1 is officially released for the Droid, there won't be anything left to port over! Is it possible to install this straight from the phone? I am without my laptop for the next 5 days or so and am unable to download the file onto my work computer.

I installed this from the sd card using Astro. So if you can download it you can install it.

I was just thinking the same thing. I've already installed the Gallery, the Music Player, and the multi-touch browser. Unless 2.1 adds any practical improvements like speed or better battery life, I hardly even seen a reason to upgrade.

Downloaded the new music player. No big differences. Some minor stuff really.
