Is anyone working on a MT keyboard for Android? I'd gladly pay for a simple app that did nothing but change the stock keyboard to a working MT keyboard.

I've been begging for this since day 1... and yet no one ever seems to develop :(

I think I've made about 3 or 4 threads about it too, lol

honestly with the swype keyboard out there, there really isn't much of a necessity anymore, but I too would like a multi touch stock keyboard just as an option

swype is going to expire soon... its just a leaked time limited preview of it...not an permanent app.

The version of swype that is out now will continue working.... there is no need for anything else.

There isn't a time limit built into it.... :)

Even if it was going to expire, which I highly doubt, I'm sure its expiration would coincide with the official release of the swype keyboard

I doubt if the leaked copy was ever intended to expire.

Even if it does when it's released onto another android phone we'll have it again...

They really need to put it in the market - I would pay for it.

I like swype just fine, but I want a multi touch keyboard. Our phone is multi touch capable, so give us a multi touch keyboard!

I'm getting tired of people mentioning swype everytime a MT keyboard is mentioned. I've tried swype. I hate swype. I want a MT keyboard.

No more mentioning swype in this thread! :icon_evil:

I completely agree... any time any keyboard is mentioned, the first thing out of people is "SWYPE"

This is in no way bad mouthing the swype KB... but there are those of us who would much rather type on a good mutli-touch KB... which we can use BOTH hands with GOOD speed

If you hold down a key on the current virtual keyboard, and then proceed to hit another key while the first is pressed, you will not get the second key press. When you release the second key, it just repeats the first. We want an MT keyboard (pretty sure the iphone has one) that can take multiple key presses simultaneously. This is a huge bonus to people who type fast.

This is a little bit tangential to the topic, but I think part of the KB problem on android is that you can't designate different default IME's for different tasks.

For example, Swype (I'm sorry, I swear!) is pretty good for typing out a text message. But, when it comes to typing in a website url, its pretty terrible. If android let you choose which IME you wanted each application (and maybe even each text input area in that application) to use, then I think that would make things much nicer.

I'm definitely looking forward to a MT keyboard as well though.

the more you use swype the faster it gets, I blaze on my swype, I could basically never type as fast on any keyboard other than swype, anyone that doesn't like it should try it again

and I know that people dont care and want a multi touch keyboard but there isn't one right now so swype its definitely the fastest option

Thats a good idea -- I'm sure an app could probably be developed to designate app-specific keyboards.

Hey, another person recommending Swype. Please get in line.

Ya, and the Better Keyboard App sucks. Its not as quick to respond to touched as the regular moto droid android keyboard software. I can type so fast and it catches all my presses. Better keyboard doesnt if you text to fast.

Dudes who don't like Swype - use the physical keyboard.
