ever since rooting my droid is very difficult to mount. i get a different screen now, it doesn't ask if i want to mount anymore, it shows 'debugging enabled' and asks if i want to transfer files. when trying to click on the 'transfer files' it takes several attempts and it may go to the homescreen of any one of several apps before i get a 'turn on USB' screen and that screen is also very stubborn. after that finally does go thru, the only way i have found to bring up my SD card is 'computer>removable storage (F)'. screen was much more responsive before

Which rom are you using? Have you tried using a different one?
Also, does the notification menu only show one option, the debugging option?

Try flashing a new rom and see if that helps.. If not, at least you know it isn't a rom problem. You could also give wiping a try.. wouldn't hurt.
